How we research
How Unboxed99 researches a product
Every verdict is built from public sources we can show you. Here is what happens between your question and the answer.
1. We search the web
We search with TinyFish first. If it's unavailable, we fall back to our own self-hosted SearXNG search, which queries several public search engines. We look for expert reviews, forum threads, videos and manufacturer pages about the exact model you asked about, so a Pro, FE or Lite variant is never mixed up with its sibling.
2. We read and filter the sources
Our fetcher identifies itself as Unboxed99Bot, respects robots.txt and paces its requests. Duplicate and near-duplicate pages are removed, shops and social networks are skipped, and pages that are about a different product are dropped. Each remaining source is scored for quality.
3. Evidence gates
A verdict is only written when there is enough independent evidence: a minimum number of usable sources from several different websites, and enough distinct claims. Comparisons also need enough independent, non-manufacturer reviews for each product. When the evidence falls short, we say so ("not enough evidence yet") instead of guessing, and those pages are not listed in search engines.
4. Claims are cross-checked
An AI model turns each source into short, structured claims (for example "battery lasts a full day"). Claims from different sources are grouped, weighed by source quality, and labelled by how strongly reviewers agree. Disagreements are kept and shown, not averaged away.
5. Every point is cited
The verdict is written only from those claims, and every pro, con and recommendation links to the sources behind it. An automatic check rejects any verdict that cites a source we didn't read. We never invent ratings, scores, review counts or prices, and we don't publish star ratings.
6. Research is dated and refreshed
Each page shows when it was last researched and when each source was published and checked. Research expires and can be refreshed; older pages are taken out of search listings until they are re-researched.
No paid verdicts
Nobody can pay for a verdict, a better position in a shortlist, or a mention. There is no sponsored content in our verdicts.
Affiliate disclosure
We have no affiliate links today. If we add them in future (for example to a shop's product page), they will be clearly labelled, they will never change what a verdict says, and this page will be updated first.
